The Internet
In today’s fast-paced, Internet-driven world, the nature of events has rapidly evolved, and single events may indeed be fading into the past. Historically, major events—whether they were business conferences, festivals, or product launches—were often single, unconnected occurrences that happened once, with a clear start and finish. But now, with the power of digital connectivity, there’s a growing trend to extend events, often through digital engagement, hybrid formats, and ongoing content series.
More Than One Way
One reason single events are becoming less common is that companies and organizers recognize the value in fostering continuous engagement. Rather than hosting a single annual conference, for instance, many organizations now opt for recurring webinars, social media check-ins, and virtual networking sessions Ugh!!. This shift not only maximizes the impact of a singles "event" but also keeps participants engaged year-round, making it easier to maintain momentum, generate leads, and cultivate community.
Live Vs. Online
Hybrid events, which combine live and online elements, also play a key role in this transition. Even if a central in-person event occurs, it’s often supplemented with online pre- or post-event activities, such as workshops, discussion panels, or exclusive content. This format allows organizers to cater to a broader audience, ensuring that those unable to attend in person can still engage online, thus broadening the reach (always at a cost)
Paying For Additional Events
Additionally, the rise of subscription models and membership platforms, a money grab in my opinion, has contributed to a shift in expectations, as attendees now expect consistent value rather than one-off experiences. Instead of focusing on one-time tickets, event organizers are creating a series of connected experiences which include all age ranges, keeping their audience involved and engaged over time.
What About The Men
In this context, single events are indeed becoming a thing of the past, as ongoing engagement and multi-format dating app experiences replace the in person approach, and the fact that some men refusing to attend these single events, they see that women enter for free or a nominal cost compared to men who have to pay full price. The men see it as a no win situation especially with the way women have set their dating standards in today's modern times.
